AECOM Secures $225 Million Environmental Cleanup Contract with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
The scope of work encompasses various technical services, including site investigations, feasibility studies, remedial designs, and groundwater modeling

AECOM has secured a new five-year contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Kansas City District, continuing its long-standing environmental remediation work. The indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract, valued at up to $225 million, covers environmental cleanup services across the USACE Northwestern Division and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 2.
The contract tasks AECOM with conducting comprehensive environmental investigations and remediation work, with a particular emphasis on addressing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination. These "forever chemicals" have become an increasing concern for public health officials and environmental experts in recent years.
"We're proud to build on more than 100 years of experience delivering diverse infrastructure and environmental solutions for USACE sites around the world," said Karl Jensen, executive vice president of AECOM's National Governments business. Jensen emphasized the company's proven track record as a trusted partner on large-scale remediation programs for federal clients.
The scope of work encompasses various technical services, including site investigations, feasibility studies, remedial designs, and groundwater modeling. AECOM will also handle community engagement efforts to ensure transparency throughout the cleanup process.
AECOM will collaborate with three specialty small businesses, including HUBZone-certified FPM Remediations, Inc. The partnership with FPM, which spans over two decades, is further strengthened through a U.S. Small Business Administration mentor-protégé agreement.
Dawn Swider, who leads AECOM's Environment business line in the U.S. West region, highlighted the company's technical capabilities. "As an industry leader in environmental engineering and design, our teams are at the forefront of addressing pressing remediation challenges," Swider noted, adding that the company combines regulatory knowledge with technical innovations to tackle complex environmental issues.
AECOM, a Fortune 500 company that reported revenue of $16.1 billion in fiscal year 2024, continues to be a key player in federal environmental cleanup efforts. This contract renewal reinforces the company's ongoing commitment to environmental remediation while promoting sustainable practices and public health protection.
