RemTEC and EC Summit announces awards for student research

With 21 student poster submissions from all around North America, judges say the quality of the next generation’s research is top-notch.

Students attending the Remediation Technology and Emerging Contaminants Summit got the opportunity to present their research during poster sessions and flash presentations. Judges also reviewed 21 posters submitted for the annual student competition at the Oct. 4-6 event in Colorado.

“Thank you to all of the students that presented their exciting research,” says Megan Houlihan of Geosyntec Consultants. “We greatly appreciate your time and effort in bringing your work to this conference.”

Judge Drew Baird of FRx described the experience of judging 11 of the posters as the highlight of his conference experience, noting RemTEC and Emerging Contaminants Summit’s student program is unique.

“After spending time with these students and their posters, I can tell you the future of this industry is looking very bright,” Baird concludes.

Austin is from Mattoon, IL, and graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in journalism.
