Heather Henry

Dr. Heather Henry is an environmental scientist with over 20 years' experience in research and technology transfer of innovative environmental technologies to improve sustainability and cost effectiveness of environmental site assessment and remediation. She is currently a Health Scientist Administrator at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and part of the Superfund Research Program (SRP), a federal environmental and health research grant program. She manages a portfolio of over 100 innovative toxicology, site monitoring, and remediation grants to US universities and small businesses. She provides fiscal oversight and coordinate Congressional reporting for the SRP's $47 million dollar budget. She also communicates and translates program successes to a variety of stakeholders: academics, industry, communities, and federal/state end-users. She serves on several working groups including Federal Remediation Technology Forum; National Science and Technology Council Joint Subcommittee on Environment, Innovation, and Public Health Strategy Team on PFAS; National Nanotechnology Initiative Water Sustainability; NIH COVID-19: Wastewater Surveillance; NIEHS Microbiome; NIEHS Emerging Contaminants; and NIEHS Disaster Research Response. Prior to joining the NIEHS, Dr. Henry received a BS in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Rochester (Rochester, NY); a PhD in Biology at the University of Cincinnati; and a Fulbright Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Melbourne and University of Adelaide in Australia.
