Associate Professor
University of California, Riverside

Jinyong Liu is an Associate Professor and Won and Insook Yoo Endowed Chair in Environmental Engineering at University of California, Riverside (UCR). He received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Master’s degree in Environmental Science & Engineering from Tsinghua University and his Ph.D. degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After being a postdoctoral fellow at Colorado School of Mines, he joined the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the UCR in 2016. Current research topics include (i) degradation of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), (ii) catalytic reduction of oxyanions such as perchlorate, chlorate, nitrate, and bromate, and (iii) developing transition metal chemistry systems for environmental application. The research looks at both fundamental mechanisms and engineering applications.
