Nicole Masters is a PhD candidate at Mines in Civil and Environmental Engineering. She holds a BS in Chemical Engineering and a MS in Environmental Engineering Sciences. Prior to starting graduate school, Nicole worked in hematology for three years studying treatments for bleeding disorders and deep vein thrombosis. She shifted away from medicine and worked in geomicrobiology for several years before focusing her work on water and wastewater treatment. She has worked on both groundwater treatment and direct potable reuse, focusing on PFAS removal in both areas. When not in the lab, writing, or coding, Nicole enjoys spending time with her spouse and their dog Goose.
