Research Scientist II
Colorado State University
Andrea Hanson Rhoades is a Research Scientist II at Colorado State University in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Andrea’s research interests center on elucidating microbial interactions with environmental contaminants and subsequently harnessing microbes’ physiological capacity to enhance bioremediation. Her research employs meta-omics, IoT sensors, and analytical instrumentation to characterize microbial communities in engineered and natural systems to inform remedial action design, implementation, and monitoring. Andrea’s current research efforts are focused on developing solutions for NAPLs, nitroaromatic compounds, 1,4-dioxane, produced water, and PFASs through pilot-scale field testing across the US.
