PhD Candidate
University of California, Los Angeles
Ivy is a fourth-year PhD Candidate in Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she also earned her B.S. in Molecular, Cell, & Developmental Biology (with a minor in Environmental Engineering) and M.S. in Civil & Environmental Engineering. Ivy’s research explores natural attenuation and bioaugmentation efforts at sites around the United States that have been contaminated with 1,4-dioxane and chlorinated volatile organic compounds (CVOCs), which commonly co-occur in the environment. She also investigates the ability of the Pseudonocardia dioxanivorans CB1190 (CB1190), a dioxane-metabolizing bacteria, to degrade various co-contaminants throughout fluctuating biogeochemical conditions.
