Senior Geologist for FRx, Drew Baird, reviewed 11 posters at the last RemTEC & Emerging Contaminants Summit, held at the same time and place as the upcoming 2023 summit: October 3 - 5, 2023 at The Westin in Westminster, Colorado.

He said the poster presentations are one of his favorite aspects of the RemTEC and EC Summit. He calls the quality of work "encouraging," and that developing these processes through research is "critical for us as practitioners of environmental remediation."

"I learned from poster sessions that there is a tremendous amount of very high quality research going on at multiple universities, across not only the U.S., but Europe and Australia," Baird says. 

"We have a bright future with really talented students who will be entering our industry to help solve some of the most challenging problems we've experienced, with emerging contaminants particularly," he adds.

"It was very difficult to rank the poster presentations by content and by presentation, they were generally excellent. My score sheet came down to just small numbers of points between the posters," Baird said, adding that he had seven different judging criteria.
